…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST FRIDAY…
…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS CANCELLED…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WILMINGTON HAS CANCELLED THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY.

* HAZARD TYPES…DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS

* TIMING…ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL HAS ENDED EARLY THIS EVENING.

* IMPACTS…TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES ARE EXPECTED DUE TO REDUCED VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. RAPIDLY FALLING TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO CAUSE RE-FREEZE ON AREA ROADWAYS. THE FRIGID CONDITIONS TONIGHT WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE VENTURING OUTSIDE. PROLONGED EXPOSURE MAY CAUSE FROSTBITE.

* WINDS…NORTHWEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

* WIND CHILL READINGS…AS LOW AS 12 BELOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS BETWEEN 10 AND 24 DEGREES BELOW ZERO FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS. THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE OUTDOORS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY… MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED.
