URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH
945 PM EST THU JAN 2 2014

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST FRIDAY…

* HAZARD TYPES…DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS.

* TIMING…WIND CHILLS ARE ALREADY BELOW ZERO…AND WILL GET AS LOW AS 15 BELOW ZERO EARLY FRIDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS…THE FRIGID CONDITIONS TONIGHT WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE VENTURING OUTSIDE. PROLONGED EXPOSURE MAY CAUSE FROSTBITE.

* WINDS…NORTHWEST WINDS OF 10 TO 15 MPH ARE EXPECTED…WITH GUSTS OF UP TO 25 MPH.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS BETWEEN 10 AND 24 DEGREES BELOW ZERO FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS. THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE OUTDOORS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY…MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED.
