URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH
920 PM EST TUE JAN 21 2014

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST WEDNESDAY…

* HAZARD TYPES…VERY COLD WIND CHILLS.

* TIMING…NEGATIVE WIND CHILL VALUES ARE EXPECTED THIS EVENING AND THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS ON WEDNESDAY.

* WINDS…NORTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES…WILL DROP TO LOWS FROM ZERO TO 6 BELOW ZERO.

* WIND CHILL READINGS…AS LOW AS 17 BELOW.

* IMPACTS…LOW WIND CHILL WILL POSE A THREAT FOR FROSTBITE TO ANYONE WHO IS OUTSIDE WITH EXPOSED SKIN. HYPOTHERMIA IS ALSO POSSIBLE WITH PROLONGED EXPOSURE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS BETWEEN 10 AND 24 DEGREES BELOW ZERO FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS. THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE OUTDOORS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY… MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED.
