URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE…CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH
312 AM EST WED JAN 22 2014

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST THIS MORNING…

* HAZARD TYPES…VERY COLD WIND CHILLS.

* TIMING…VERY COLD WIND CHILLS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH LATE MORNING.

* WINDS…WEST 5 MPH OR LESS.

* TEMPERATURES…TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR ZERO DEGREES…AND AS LOW AS 5 BELOW ZERO IN SOME PLACES.

* WIND CHILL READINGS…WIND CHILL VALUES WILL BE BETWEEN 5 AND 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.

* IMPACTS…LOW WIND CHILL WILL POSE A THREAT FOR FROSTBITE TO ANYONE WHO IS OUTSIDE WITH EXPOSED SKIN. HYPOTHERMIA IS ALSO POSSIBLE WITH PROLONGED EXPOSURE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS BETWEEN 10 AND 24 DEGREES BELOW ZERO FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS. THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE OUTDOORS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY… MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED.
