DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0759 PM CDT MON APR 28 2014

VALID 290100Z – 291200Z

…THERE IS A MDT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM SERN TN/NWRN GA SWWD TO SWRN MS…

…THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM THE MIDWEST SWD INTO THE LOWER MS VALLEY/CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION…

…THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS A SMALL PORTION OF SERN NC/NERN SC…

…SUMMARY…
A SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK WILL CONTINUE THIS EVENING FROM PARTS OF TENNESSEE SOUTHWESTWARD ACROSS PARTS OF NORTHWESTERN GEORGIA…ALABAMA…AND MISSISSIPPI. SEVERAL ADDITIONAL TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE…SOME OF WHICH COULD BE STRONG. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ARE ALSO LIKELY.

…PARTS ERN TN AND NWRN GA SWWD ACROSS PARTS OF AL AND MS…
A BAND OF SEVERE/SUPERCELL STORMS IS ONGOING ATTM FROM SERN TN SWWD INTO SWRN MS AND ADJACENT ERN LA. SEVERE STORMS WITHIN THIS BAND HAVE PRODUCED LARGE/INTENSE TORNADOES OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS. THOUGH THE RISK FOR VIOLENT TORNADOES HAS — AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO — GRADUALLY DECREASE…LIKELIHOOD FOR STRONG TORNADOES CONTINUES AND SHOULD PERSIST FOR SEVERAL HOURS THIS EVENING AS THE STORMS MOVE EWD THROUGH AN AMPLY UNSTABLE/STRONGLY SHEARED ENVIRONMENT. IN ADDITION…LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS — WITH THE RISK EXTENDING INTO THE WRN CAROLINAS…GA…AND POSSIBLY THE WRN FL PANHANDLE OVERNIGHT.

…THE OH VALLEY REGION…
AN ARCING LINE OF STORMS CONTINUES MOVING EWD ACROSS IL ATTM…WITH OTHER STORMS ONGOING OVER KY AND ADJACENT SRN INDIANA. WHILE CONTINUED/GRADUAL WEAKENING OF THE STORMS ACROSS THIS REGION IS EXPECTED DUE TO THE LOSS OF DIURNAL HEATING…HAIL AND PERHAPS A LOCALLY DAMAGING GUST WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS…ALONG WITH AN ISOLATED TORNADO.

…THE CAROLINAS…
A LOCAL SEVERE RISK — PRIMARILY IN THE FORM OF HAIL — IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY DIMINISH ACROSS SERN NC/NERN SC THIS EVENING.
